Working Girl How-To: Write a Content Calendar That Will Impress

Writing a content calendar (especially for multiple clients) can be quite the challenge if you don’t have the proper tools. Staying organized, having the correct information, and understanding who your audience is are just a few of the things you need to begin. Here are a few tips for writing an awesome content calendar that will impress your clients – and your boss!

Formatting is everything.
Creating a calendar that not only has all the information you need for each social channel, but also is readable and digestible is key. Utilizing colors, bold lines, and spacing will make all the difference. Here’s a great template that I use frequently from Hootsuite. What’s great about the content calendar is that if you realize after a period of time it’s not making sense to you or your client, you can completely change the look and feel with just a few clicks.

Ask yourself: “Would I want to read this?”
Creating captivating copy that will draw your audience can be a challenge. I always ask myself this question when I am knee-deep in the content creating process. It’s a great way to keep your copy in check and ensure that you’re putting your best work out there. After all, you are the face of your clients on social media!

Triple-check your work.
Having several pairs of eyes look over your copy each month will not only prevent grammar errors, but it’s a great way to give it a test drive. If you use Google Chrome, I recommend installing the Grammarly extension, which will check your copy while you’re typing it into the social media management platform you’re using.
